About Jordan
Jordan, officially known as the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, is a country in Western Asia, located on the eastern bank of the Jordan River. It shares its borders with Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, Israel, and Palestine, and it is one of the few countries in the Middle East that has signed peace treaties with Israel. Jordan is famed for its ancient culture, warm hospitality, and diverse landscapes. Its capital and largest city, Amman, is one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world and offers a stunning contrast between modern lifestyle and historical ruins. Jordan is home to many significant archaeological sites, including the city of Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Other notable attractions include the Roman ruins at Jerash, the desert castles, and the stunning natural beauty of the Dead Sea and Wadi Rum, the latter being a popular location for shooting films. The country has a developed health sector and is known as the medical tourism hub in the region. Despite challenges such as scarce water resources and a high refugee intake, Jordan has a stable economy and plays a prominent role in peacekeeping and diplomatic relations in the region.
