The capital city of Doha is known for its futuristic skyscrapers and ultra-modern architecture, inspired by ancient Islamic design. Qatar has one of the highest per capita incomes in the world, owing to its significant reserves of oil and natural gas (it is one of the leading exporters of liquefied natural gas). The country's economy has been diversifying and now also includes manufacturing, construction, and financial services. Despite its arid climate, Qatar has a variety of fauna, including the Arabian Oryx, the national animal. Arabic is the official language, but English is widely spoken and understood. Qatar is known for its advanced healthcare and education systems, and is host to numerous international educational institutions and sporting events, including the FIFA World Cup in 2022.
