About Aruba
Aruba, located in the Southern Caribbean Sea, is an island constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It lies about 29 kilometres north of the Venezuelan peninsula Paraguaná and 80 kilometres northwest of Curaçao. The island is 32 kilometres long and 10 kilometres wide, with a total area of 178.91 square kilometres. Oranjestad serves as its capital and largest city. Aruba's population is approximately 106,000 and is characterized by a diverse cultural mix, predominantly of Amerindian, African, and European heritage. The official languages are Dutch and Papiamento, but English and Spanish are widely spoken. Aruba's economy is heavily dependent on tourism, which contributes to more than half of its GDP. The island is known for its white, sandy beaches on the western and southern coasts, which are relatively sheltered from fierce ocean currents, making them great spots for swimming. Aruba has a hot semi-arid climate with year-round warm weather, which attracts tourists all year. Aruban culture is rich and varied, featuring everything from music and dance, like the traditional Tumba, to a cuisine that's influenced by over 90 nationalities. Despite its small size, Aruba offers a wide range of cultural and historical attractions, such as the Archaeological Museum in Oranjestad, showcasing the island's Amerindian heritage.
