About Tunisia

Tunisia, officially known as the Tunisian Republic, is a country located in North Africa. It is bordered by Algeria to the west and southwest, Libya to the southeast, and the Mediterranean Sea to the north and east. Its capital and largest city is Tunis. Covering an area of about 163,610 square kilometers, Tunisia is home to nearly 11.7 million people. Arabic is the official language, and Islam is the predominant religion. Tunisia has a diverse culture, with a significant influence of Amazigh, Arab, Turkish, and French cultures, evident in its music, cuisine, and arts. Despite political turmoil following the Arab Spring in 2011, Tunisia is considered the only full democracy in the Arab World. It has a high human development index. It is a member of the United Nations, the Arab League, and the African Union, among others.
