Turkey, officially known as the Republic of Turkey, is a transcontinental country, straddling both Europe and Asia. It also maintains membership in NATO, the UN, and the Council of Europe, but negotiations for full EU membership have been ongoing since 1987. Turkey's geography, climate, and location give it a diverse array of landscapes, including the limestone terraces of Pamukkale, the unique 'fairy chimneys' in Cappadocia, and the stunning beaches of its Aegean and Mediterranean coasts.
